TM Juke & The Jack Baker Trio - Boto & The Second Liners (2008)

The most compelling work we've ever heard from TM Juke -- a set done live, in collaboration with the Jack Baker Trio -- and filled with an amazing array of multicultural grooves! Bits of Latin, Afro Funk, Ethiopian, New Orleans, and Caribbean rhythms collide here -- all crashing down into a unique new space, one that sounds totally wonderful, given the live instrumentation played for the album, and the crisp production used to highlight the funkiest elements at the bottom! Just at the point when the rhythms seem slightly familiar, the album takes a surprise left turn into even deeper territory -- really surprisingly us a lot, given the style of other TM Juke projects -- and providing a perfect setting for some guest vocals by Alice Russell, Gecko Turner, and Kathrin DeBoer. Titles include "Echoes From The Surface", "Spread It On", "Heads Higher", "Rolling Stone To Landslide", "Omak Besar", "Party Favours", "Fortune Favours The Bold", "Yeah The Crab", "Swamp Ska's", and "The Train". © 1996-2008, Dusty Groove America, Inc.
